In the end, no franchise in Marvel Comics’ ever-growing universe won’t touch the hearts of fans like the X-Men. The team of mutants has dug its claws into the hearts of fans around the world with its inspiring stories about heroism, discrimination, and acceptance. Coming off a series revival, one of the most famous iterations from X-Men in animation is their 1997 counterpart. That show brought back beloved characters for a whole new slew of adventures on Disney+. But also building off that success is another revival series, X-Men ‘97.

A Nostalgic Trip Back to the ‘90s

X-Men ’97 — yes, it continues directly from where 1992 left off — holds as a direct continuation of its iconic predecessor which aired for five seasons and became such a cornerstone to Saturday morning cartoons. The revival looks to recapture everything about what made that original show so good by bringing back everyone from voice actors to creative teams who worked on it. For fans who grew up watching these heroes clash against Magneto, Sentinels and other foes all those years ago; this new show will be nostalgic in every sense.

An Exploding Universe

X-Men ’97 will make sure not to stay entirely loyal though — but we’ll get their next point down below. By introducing us viewers to some never-before-seen characters and stories throughout this new series’ narrative; it will ensure things are just as fresh and exciting for newcomers as they are satisfying for long-time enthusiasts.

A Timeless Message About Acceptance

Underneath all that heroic action though… is some heartfelt storytelling about diversity and inclusion. Much like previous installments within this franchise or even outside other comics altogether; X-Men ’97 seeks not only to entertain people their fists-in-the-air moments but to also leave viewers with a message worth carrying into reality. By showcasing the struggles of mutants in a world that just shuns them at every turn, it hopes to cleverly draw attention to real-world problems such as discrimination and intolerance that we all face. It’s a way for X-Men ’97 to make itself timeless and relevant for all ages and backgrounds.

The Future of X-Men ‘97

The revival series is looking promising and sure to be great fun for fans new and old. With its nostalgic appeal, expanding universe, and powerful themes; X-Men ’97 will carve out its own spot on our screens of superhero animation. — Brad Kern
